Miho Yorozu

Miho Yorozu joined the Department of Japanese Studies of HKU in 1996. Currently she is the Coodinator of the Japanese Language Programme and was the Director of Japanese Studies from 2007-2014. She serves as a Board member and an Academic Adviser of the Faculty of Arts.

With other members of the HKU Japanese Language Standards Research Group, Miho engages herself in the annual revision of the internationally known Japanese language standards and strives for the expansion of the rubrics to elective courses offered by the Japanese Language Programme. The innovative self-assessment Moodle tools for students, which were initially created as a TDG project, are also in the process of improvement under her lead. She took part in a number of overseas projects as a collaborator and has given invited talks in international conferences on Japanese language education. Her special interests include:

・Curriculum design
・Language standards
・L2 learners’ self-assessment, and
・Experiential L2 learning

Miho has played leading roles in organizing symposiums, conferences, and workshops such as the Symposium on “Multilingual Hong Kong as Seen through the Eyes of Japanese” in 2016 and the Symposium on “Japanese Language Proficiency in Asia: Learners' Sociolinguistic Competence and Diversity in Practice” in collaboration with Chinese University of Hong Kong and Japanese Association of Language Proficiency in 2013.
