Internship  

Summer Internship Programmes

The Programme provides an opportunity for those who have just completed their second year at university to acquire work experience through on-the-job training either at prestigious Japanese organizations in Hong Kong or at Hong Kong companies that have a strong connection with Japan. Host organizations include:

• Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ
• Canon Hong Kong
• Hong Kong Japanese School
• Japan Airlines
• JTB (Hong Kong) Ltd
• Lee Kum Kee
• Mitsui & Co.
• MSIG Insurance (formerly Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance)
• Mizuho Banking Corporation
• NTT Com Asia Ltd
• Techno Centre, Shenzhen
• Toshiba International Procurement Hong Kong

In addition, the following host organization offer internship programmes in Japan:
• Resona Bank, Ltd (Internship in Osaka)
• Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Internship in Tokyo)

The internship is also an opportunity for you to assess your strengths and to determine those areas in need of improvement. Interns will receive suggestions and feedback from their host organizations and, before the end of the summer, are required to submit a 2,000-word report, in which they reflect on their experience, to the Department of Japanese Studies. The report must be in English.

Duration:
The first two to seven weeks of the summer vacation
The duration of the internship will vary according to the host organization.
Requirements:
Year Two and Three students.
Preference will be given to students who are majoring in Japanese Studies.
You may apply for the Summer Exchange Programmes and the Internship Programme simultaneously as long as the Exchange Programme of your choice does not begin in the first few weeks of the summer vacation.
Conditions:
Each host organization determines the conditions under which the intern will work, according to company regulations and other internal criteria.
How to Apply: Will be announced in March every year.
